Message from the Secretary General 22-24 October, 2002, Dubai, United Arab Emirates
Dear Guests, Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Medical Sciences has been established with a view to honour researchers from every part of the world who tirelessly pursue distinctive medical research that serves the larger interests of humanity. Besides enriching scientific research, it has an additional objective of enhancing the nature of scientific interaction between doctors in this country and international medical centers. On behalf of the General Secretariat, I am delighted and honoured to welcome all medical professionals to Dubai a city ideally placed to host many big events, and also known as the city of gold, to participate in the 2nd Dubai International Conference for Medical Sciences to be held during 22-24 October, 2002. Our foundation has successfully completed the first round of awards, which culminated in honouring eminent medical professionals with awards that recognised their unique contributions to medicine. I take this opportunity to thank all who have contributed in this endeavour and also those who have taken part in the inaugural event to make it a grand success. This prestigious Award would not have attained its stature without the generous support of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Minister of Finance and Industry, Patron of the Award. His Highness generosity is consistent with the philosophy of our enlightened leadership and their wise policies. Once again, this unique event would bring together prominent researchers and pioneers in selected fields of medicine to present state of the art lectures in a regal atmosphere. The main attraction would be presentations by winners, in all categories of the Award, of their award winning work. I am happy that Dubai will once again be witnessing this historical event and latest presentations of the pioneers. We are pleased to announce that registration for this event is free. I look forward to seeing you at the conference.
