Schneider Electric and
PureHealth partner on
healthcare sustainability
initiatives
(ABU DHABI)
-
Schneider Electric and
PureHealth have entered into
a collaboration to explore
ways to improve energy
efficiency, manage
emissions, and expand the
use of digital technologies
across healthcare facilities
and infrastructure in the
Middle East.
The
collaboration will combine
Schneider Electric’s
expertise in energy
management, automation and
sustainability with
PureHealth’s healthcare
operations, which include
hospitals, clinics,
laboratories, pharmacies,
health technology, insurance
and procurement services.
As part of the
agreement, Schneider
Electric will provide
PureHealth with access to
its EcoStruxure™ Resource
Advisor platform and
establish a framework for
assessing sustainable
infrastructure strategies
across the group’s
facilities. The platform is
designed to help consolidate
environmental data, track
energy use, and monitor
greenhouse gas emissions.
The initiative will
focus on three areas: energy
efficiency and management;
digital technologies,
including artificial
intelligence (AI), Internet
of Things (IoT)-enabled
monitoring and predictive
maintenance; and
sustainability advisory
services, including
sustainable building design,
green building
certifications and circular
economy practices.
The platform will support
the management of Scope 1
and Scope 2 emissions, as
well as relevant Scope 3
emissions across
PureHealth’s operations. The
work is intended to support
the group’s target of
achieving net-zero emissions
by 2040, which has been
validated by the Science
Based Targets initiative
(SBTi).
“Healthcare
plays a vital role in every
community, and the sector
has a significant
opportunity to lead the
transition toward more
sustainable, efficient, and
resilient operations,” said
Olivier Blum, Chief
Executive Officer of
Schneider Electric. He said
the collaboration would
explore approaches to
reducing emissions while
improving operational
performance across
healthcare facilities.
Shaista Asif, Group
Chief Executive Officer of
PureHealth, said
sustainability would be an
important consideration in
the design and operation of
healthcare facilities,
alongside clinical
capabilities and long-term
resilience.
The
collaboration comes as the
UAE advances its national
climate commitments. Under
its third Nationally
Determined Contribution, the
country has set a target to
reduce greenhouse gas
emissions by 47% by 2035 and
aims to achieve net-zero
emissions by 2050. The UAE
Climate Change Law, which
took effect in May 2025,
also establishes
requirements for entities to
measure, report, and reduce
greenhouse gas emissions.
Abu Dhabi has set
additional targets for its
healthcare sector. The
Department of Health – Abu
Dhabi has outlined a goal to
reduce the sector’s carbon
emissions by 20% by 2030 and
achieve net zero by 2050.
PureHealth has reported
a 37% reduction in
greenhouse gas emissions
intensity between 2022 and
2024. The collaboration with
Schneider Electric is
intended to support further
progress toward the group’s
2040 net-zero target through
improved energy management,
emissions monitoring, and
sustainability planning.
The companies have not
disclosed the financial
terms of the collaboration
or a timeline for
implementing specific
measures across PureHealth’s
facilities.
