Rashid bin Hamdan Al Maktoum commends the vision of wise leadership in elevating medical and educational performance to global excellence

(Dubai, UAE) - Following the recent enactment of Law No. (13) of 2023 by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai, leading to the establishment of the ‘Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Medical and Educational Sciences’ along with the issuance of Decree No. (32) of 2023 appointing Sheikh Rashid bin Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum as Supreme Chairman of the Foundation, Sheikh Rashid bin Hamdan Al Maktoum conveyed his deep appreciation for the trust reposed in him by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. This trust was exemplified by his appointment as the Supreme Chairman of Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Medical and Educational Sciences, coinciding with the Foundation's establishment.

In his remarks on this significant occasion, His Highness Sheikh Rashid bin Hamdan Al Maktoum commended the leadership's visionary commitment to continually enhance medical and educational standards, striving for global excellence. He emphasized the collaborative endeavors of both the government and society in acknowledging the pivotal role these sectors play in fostering sustainable human development.

Sheikh Rashid added, “The gracious care bestowed upon the initiatives by the late Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, may his soul rest in peace, signifies the commitment and dedication to sustaining programs that support the quality of medical and educational services. It also demonstrates support for initiatives that align with the country’s efforts in these two crucial sectors, given their immense significance.”

Sheikh Rashid bin Hamdan Al Maktoum continued, “The establishment of Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Medical and Educational Sciences, alongside leveraging the substantial legacy of accomplishments through the Sheikh Hamdan Medical Award and the Hamdan Foundation for Distinguished Academic Performance, spanning 25 years, signifies a crucial milestone in uniting endeavors to bolster healthcare and education within the designated communities.”
He emphasized that the new Foundation, in alignment with government empowerment, societal support, and international, regional, and local partnerships, possesses the capabilities and competence needed to maintain its growth and leadership.

Sheikh Rashid bin Hamdan Al Maktoum renewed his confidence in the potential of the new Foundation to uphold its international and Arab stature, deepen the impact of its programs in enhancing medical and educational performance, and increase its contributions to achieving its overarching goal of ensuring the sustainability of quality and excellence in medical and educational work at the local, regional, and international levels. This, in turn, contributes to solidifying the leading role of the UAE in humanitarian endeavors.

On the occasion of the issuance of the decision by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council, Decision No. (58) of 2023, to establish the Board of Trustees of ‘Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Medical and Educational Sciences’, chaired by His Excellency Hamid Mohammed Al Qatami, His Excellency expressed his thanks and appreciation to His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council. He stated, “His Highness's confidence is a source of pride and esteem, and it represents a national trust and responsibility for which we seek the highest success.”

Furthermore, His Excellency added that being the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Foundation and guided by the leadership of Sheikh Rashid bin Hamdan Al Maktoum, the Supreme Chairman of the Foundation, constitute key elements that support the establishment of a robust and capable institution. This institution possesses a foundation of government support, not to mention the rich cumulative legacy of achievements realized through the late Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum's initiatives, may his soul rest in peace. These initiatives include Sheikh Hamdan Medical Award and Hamdan Foundation for Distinguished Academic Performance. His Excellency stressed that consolidating these efforts and aligning their visions will strengthen the Foundation's capacity to sustain its mission and collaborate effectively with relevant institutions, thereby contributing to the realization of national objectives in both the medical and educational domains. His Excellency Al Qatami confirmed that the Foundation's Board of Trustees will actively define strategies in the fields of medical and educational excellence, as well as the cultivation of talent, adhering to the highest standards. This approach is designed to maintain the Foundation's leadership position and achieve the best possible results.

The newly established Foundation seeks to bolster governmental and societal efforts in underscoring the significance of both the education and medical sectors. It strives to propagate a culture of talent, innovation, excellence, and quality within these domains, thereby contributing to the enhancement of the quality and performance levels and fostering innovation within educational and medical institutions at both the local and international levels.

Additionally, the Foundation aims to support talent pathways, nurture talent, provide an environment conducive to their development, create specialized programs for them, encourage scientific research in the field of excellence and talent, especially research with national priority, and motivate and recognize individuals, universities, institutions, research centers, and other relevant entities who have achieved excellence in the fields of education and medicine at the local, regional, and international levels.
