ADCAN Pharma signs five
licensing and manufacturing
deals at CPHI Milan 2026
(MILAN)
-
ADCAN Pharma has
signed five new licensing,
technology‑transfer and
local manufacturing
agreements — along with
binding term sheets — with
international partners
during CPHI Milan 2026, held
6–8 October. The UAE‑based
manufacturer said the deals
cover therapies in
cardiovascular disease,
diabetes and oncology, and
are aimed at expanding its
portfolio while
strengthening pharmaceutical
production capacity in the
UAE, Saudi Arabia and the
wider Middle East.
Dr. Shaikha Al
Mazrouei, Research and
Studies Advisor at the
Emirates Drug Establishment
(EDE), said the
agreements reflect the UAE’s
push to deepen global
partnerships in advanced
manufacturing.
“International partnerships
in licensing, technology
transfer and local
manufacturing are an
important enabler of the
UAE’s pharmaceutical
industry,” she said. “At the
Emirates Drug Establishment,
we are committed to ensuring
that this growth is
supported by a regulatory
environment that strengthens
quality and compliance,
enables innovation and
knowledge transfer, and
enhances the competitiveness
of UAE‑manufactured
pharmaceutical products in
regional and global
markets.”
ADCAN
Pharma said the deals
support its strategy to
produce more critical
medicines locally,
describing the move as a key
step toward building
domestic manufacturing
resilience and improving
access to treatment across
the region.
“These
agreements reflect our focus
on building long‑term
partnerships that can
strengthen local
manufacturing and expand
access to essential
medicines,” said
Chairman Hamdan Mohamed
AlDahmani. “Our
priority is to support
patient access, capability
transfer, and the continued
growth of the UAE and the
region’s pharmaceutical
sector.”
Chief Executive Officer Dr.
Fokion Sinis said
the MOUs form part of
ADCAN’s broader localization
strategy. “Through licensing
and technology transfer, we
aim to bring critical
therapies closer to patients
in the UAE while
strengthening our
capabilities across
cardiovascular care,
diabetes and oncology in KSA
and the Middle East.”
ADCAN’s new partners
include Elpen, Alvion and
Genepharm (Greece), Inventia
(India), and Lotus (Taiwan).
The company noted that
the Emirates Drug
Establishment continues to
play a central role in
advancing the UAE’s
industrial and healthcare
priorities by shaping a
regulatory environment that
supports high‑quality local
manufacturing, compliance,
innovation and supply‑chain
resilience. ADCAN added that
this aligns with national
initiatives such as "Made in
the UAE", which aim to
expand domestic production,
improve patient access, and
reinforce the country’s
position as a regional hub
for pharmaceutical
manufacturing and
innovation.
