| Objectives:
The objectives of the Environmental Health Center
are:
- to
disseminate environmental research data into knowledge that can be used to
improve public health programs and policy,
- to
educate the public about how individual and group susceptibilities interact
with environmental and occupational factors to cause disease, and
- to
foster collaborations between scientists and community groups in order to
involve community members in the research and awareness process to the
maximum extent possible.
The
Environmental Health Center accomplishes its objectives by facilitating
communication among scientists, community organizations, teachers, students,
public health officials and businesses.
The
Center will also serve as a catalyst, information clearinghouse, and executive
training and education locus for university faculty, government agencies,
private and public industry on the local, national, and international levels.
