Riyadh- Saudi Arabia sent more
than 150 tons of relief supplies to help earthquake victims in Iran.
Five Saudi relief planes have arrived in Iran so far carrying food,
medical supplies, tents, and blankets for the victims of a powerful
earthquake which hit the city of Bam in southeastern Iran.
According to Prince Bandar bin
Sultan, Saudi Ambassador to the U.S., "The aid was sent at the
directive of King Fahd and Crown Prince Abdullah, and is in accord
with the Kingdom's policy of helping others in their hour of need.
Our efforts are coordinated closely with the Iranian
authorities."
In addition, Saudi Arabia dispatched
a medical team to Bam composed of personnel from the Saudi Red
Crescent Society and the Ministry of Health.
