(ArabMedicare.com News) Cedars
Jebel Ali International Hospital, the first and only Hospital in
Jebel Ali, has announced major expansion plans that will effectively
address the growing concern of residents for a comprehensive medical
facility in Jebel Ali and the surrounding areas. The new extension
will serve the needs of the increasing residential and commercial
community in the 'greater Dubai' area.
The first phase of expansion will spread across more than 13,500 sq
meters and include 5 operating theatres, a fully equipped General
Surgery abdominal and Laparoscopic Surgery, Gyn-Obs Department,
Paediatric and Neonatology Department, Paediatric I.C.U., Cardiology
and Cardiac and Vascular Surgery Department, Urology Department with
Lithotripsy, Orthopaedic Department, Plastic and Reconstructive
Surgery, Maxillo Facial Surgery, NeuroScience & Neuro Surgery
and Oncology with possibly a P.E.T. Centre.
Established in 1999 as a 24-hour medical centre under the name of
Jebel Ali Medical Centre, the Cedars Jebel Ali International
Hospital today caters to the needs of the Free Zone companies, as
well as the port, hotels and local residential areas.
"Cedars Jebel Ali International Hospital was set up on the
outskirts of the Jebel Ali Free Zone, at a time when the area was
just beginning to develop. We continue to be the only
centrally-located comprehensive medical facility servicing the needs
of the growing community that resides and works in the greater Dubai
locality. The emergence of a number of new residential, commercial
and industrial districts such as the Dubai Investment Park, the Palm
Jumeirah, Airport, Jumeirah Village, Jumeirah Islands and the
recently launched Dubai Waterfront have placed greater demand on our
services," said Dr. Adnan Kaddaha, Director, Cedars Jebel Ali
International Hospital.
"One of our primary areas of concentration has been the recent
launch of the South Zone project by the Jebel Ali Free Zone
Authority. The project will develop specific industry sectors
through eight different clusters and will add greater impetus to our
expansion activity because of the increased need for medical
services. We already have a low cost clinic operating within the
Free Zone to serve the medical needs and care of blue collar workers,"
he added.
At present Cedars Jebel Ali International Hospital has a 16-bed
facility in addition to the ICU, one major and one minor operation
theatre. This medical facility also has an Outpatients Clinic, a
Family Clinic and a team of over 25 doctors in various specialties
ranging from Allergy to Occupational Health, Laparoscopic Surgery to
Gastroenterology, Pediatrics, Cardiology and Orthopedics.
Cedars Jebel Ali International Hospital has the only specialized
Occupational Health Centre and the only Occupational Health
Physician in the UAE. A number of prestigious companies in the Jebel
Ali Free Zone, within Dubai and other Emirates benefit from the
services of this centre. The hospital is also very proactive in the
field of preventive medicine. It's life support division runs
internationally accredited First Aid Courses and is also the
franchisee of St. Johns Ambulance (UK).
The hospital has also opened the first medical facility within the
Dubai Investment Park (DIP). The Cedars DIP Clinic provides medical
facilities to the community working and residing within DIP and is
situated within the accommodation area at the Investment Park. The
clinic operates seven days a week offering consultation and
treatment at a nominal charge.
According to Dr. Kaddaha, Cedars Jebel Ali International Hospital
aims to be the complete community hospital for the upcoming 'new
Dubai' region and is slated to grow into an off campus University
Hospital in the near future.
